Juvenile Delinquency Proceedings
Detention Hearing
If your child is in custody, he or she is entitled to a determination of whether probable cause and/or other risk factors exist that would require keeping your child in custody until the Jurisdictional Hearing.
Jurisdictional Hearing
At this hearing, the Judge will determine whether the charges are true. The prosecution has the burden of proving the truth of the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
Disposition Hearing
If the charges are found to be true, or if your child enters an admission, the Judge will hold a separate hearing to decide what rehabilitation plan (including any punishment) best suits the needs of your child.
